Why corflute is the sign board everyone uses
Corflute is twin-wall fluted polypropylene: two flat skins joined by vertical ribs. That structure makes it light, stiff along the flutes and fully waterproof, so a sign can sit on a fence, a stake or a power pole for months without warping. It takes digital print, vinyl and screen print well, and it is cheap enough to throw away after an open home or an election. We cut corflute sheet to the exact size your printer or signwriter needs, so there is no trimming before it goes on the flatbed.
Common corflute sign sizes
- Real estate and open home signs: 600 x 900mm, often in 5mm for stake mounting.
- Election and council corflutes: 600 x 900mm or 900 x 1200mm, usually 3mm or 5mm.
- Site safety and directional signs: 300 x 450mm or 450 x 600mm in 3mm.
- Event, sports club and fence signs: any size up to a full sheet, cut to your artwork.
3mm or 5mm, white or black
3mm corflute is the standard for signs that are cable tied or screwed flat to a fence, wall or hoarding. 5mm is stiffer and is the one to choose when a sign stands on wire stakes, because the stakes slide straight into the flutes and the board resists wind. White gives the brightest print. Black suits bold chalk-style or vinyl designs and shows less dirt on building sites. Tell us which way the flutes should run: vertical flutes are needed for H-stakes, horizontal for some A-frames.
Corflute or something harder?
Corflute is made for temporary and short-term signs. For a sign that has to last years outdoors, such as a shopfront, a farm gate sign or a permanent safety sign, look at aluminium composite signs . For indoor displays and lightweight panels with a smooth face, foam PVC prints beautifully and cuts to shapes.
Cut, shaped and sent from our workshop
Plastic Online is the online storefront of Holland Plastics. Straight cuts are made to ±0.1mm, and shaped signs, arrows, round corners and holes for cable ties are cut on our CNC router . There is no minimum order, so a single sign is fine, and bulk runs of hundreds of boards for an election campaign are packed flat and sent Australia-wide. Order on our cut-to-size page.
