A splashback is one panel, not sixty tiles
An acrylic splashback goes up as a single sheet, so there are no grout lines to scrub and no tile joins for steam to work behind. It cuts and drills like timber rather than glass, which means a kitchen fitter can trim and fix it on site with ordinary tools.
Cut to size means cut to YOUR wall — including the cut-outs for power points, taps and rangehood ducting, positioned from your measurements rather than left for someone to drill on the bench.
Choosing the material
- Clear acrylic over a painted or tiled wall — the existing colour shows through, and it is the easiest retrofit.
- Coloured acrylic for a solid finish, front or back, with no painting step on site.
- Frosted acrylic where you want to soften what is behind the panel without going opaque.
- Acrylic mirror to open up a narrow galley kitchen. Note it is not glass mirror: it is lighter, and it scratches more easily, so it suits splashbacks away from heavy scouring.
Heat, and where a splashback should not go
Acrylic is not a heat-resistant material. It is not suitable directly behind a gas burner or a cooktop, and Australian kitchen installations normally require a non-combustible material in that zone — check your local requirements and your appliance's clearances before ordering. Acrylic is well suited to the rest of the run, to bathrooms, laundries and bar backs.
How to order
Measure the opening, note every cut-out with a dimension from a fixed edge, and price it in the cut-to-size calculator. If the shape is not a rectangle, send a sketch or a DXF and we will quote the finished panel.
Cut and finished in our own workshop
Plastic Online is the online counter of Holland Plastics, a Gold Coast fabrication workshop. CNC routing, laser cutting, vacuum forming and plastic welding all happen on one floor, so the person cutting your part can read what you wrote rather than a summary of it.
We cut to ±0.1 mm. Tell us which dimensions are critical — and whether the tolerance has to hold across a stack of parts — and we will confirm that against your drawing at quote stage. A sawn panel, a routed profile and a laser-cut edge come off three different machines, so naming the critical dimension is worth more than assuming it.
Finished parts ship Australia-wide from the capital-city depot nearest you, not always from Queensland. There is no minimum order: one panel is a job.
