The long-life sign board
ACM, or aluminium composite panel , is two thin sheets of painted aluminium bonded to a solid plastic core. The result is flat, rigid and weatherproof, with a factory paint finish that takes vinyl and direct UV print. It does not rust, warp or delaminate like painted ply, and it is much lighter than solid aluminium plate. Signwriters use it for shopfronts, building and fascia signs, real estate board panels, farm gate signs, site safety signs and anything else that has to look sharp for years outdoors.
Finishes and thickness
3mm ACM is the standard sign blank, stiff enough for most panels fixed to a wall or frame. Choose 4mm for large free-standing signs or panels on posts that catch the wind. Gloss white is the usual print base, matt and black suit vinyl lettering, and brushed or silver finishes give a premium look for reception and office signage.
ACM or corflute?
Corflute is the cheaper choice for temporary signs: open homes, elections, events and short building jobs. ACM costs more per sheet but lasts many times longer and stays flat, so it is better value for any sign that will be up for more than a season. For short-run and throwaway signs, see corflute signs .
Shapes, holes and folded trays
Our CNC router cuts round corners, shaped outlines, cut-out letters and fixing holes. ACM can also be V-grooved and folded into a tray with returned edges, which hides the edge of the panel and lets the sign sit off the wall on a hidden frame. Talk to our fabrication team about folded sign trays.
