Acetal (POM-C) Plastic Sheet
Acetal (Polyoxymethylene or POM-C) is a high-performance engineering plastic known for its excellent impact resistance, dimensional stability, and high mechanical strength. It features natural lubricity, outstanding surface hardness, and a low coefficient of friction, making it ideal for precision parts requiring durability and wear resistance. Acetal exhibits high dielectric strength, exceptional resistance to solvents, and very low moisture absorption, ensuring stable performance even in wet environments. With a wide operating temperature range of -45°C to +100°C, Acetal is suitable for demanding applications across various industries.
Key Applications of Acetal (POM-C) Plastic Sheets:
Bearings and Bushings: Provides smooth, low-friction movement with high wear resistance.
Gears: Offers excellent dimensional stability and mechanical strength for precision gear components.
Wear-Resistant Components: Ideal for sliders, guides, and other high-friction parts.
Food Industry Applications: Widely used for food processing equipment components (Note: Not all Acetals are FDA-approved).
High-Temperature Water Applications: Copolymer grades are preferred for their superior performance in hot water environments.
Polymer Types:
Homopolymer: Delrin® – Known for higher strength and stiffness.
Copolymer: Celcon®/Hostaform® – Offers better chemical resistance and performance in hot water.
Standard Colours:
White
Black (UV Stabilised) – Suitable for outdoor applications with enhanced UV resistance.
Specialty Grades:
C.L. (Chemically Lubricated): Enhanced for lower friction without additional lubricants.
A.F. (PTFE/Teflon® Filled): Improved wear resistance and reduced friction for demanding applications.
G.F. (Glass Filled – up to 30%): Increased stiffness, strength, and dimensional stability.
E.L. (Electrically Conductive): Suitable for ESD-sensitive environments.
S.D. (Static Dissipative): Provides controlled static discharge, ideal for electronic applications.
Custom Options:
Custom-Coloured Rods: Available upon request to meet specific design or branding requirements.
Acetal’s versatility, mechanical strength, and resistance to chemicals and moisture make it a preferred material for precision engineering components in automotive, industrial, and food processing applications.
